We Are Modeselektor
2013 · 72 MIN · IMDB 7.2 · 57 VOTES · DIR. Holger Wick, Romi Agel
Overview
What’s the “Seilscheibenpfeiler”? What is the origin of the first Modeselektor tracks? Where is Monkeytown? Why is riding a coach more fun than flying? These and many more questions will be answered with the documentary film We Are Modeselektor. In 72 minutes, filmmakers Romi Agel and Holger Wick tell the story of Modeselektor as a post-German reunification movie, a travel report, and a portrait of the special friendship between Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary all in one. We Are Modeselektor is the story of two men, possessed by techno, who took their massive beats from their small hometown village to the world. And it’s a story that has only just begun.

00:00:07 Hello.
00:05:06 That the world of electronic music
00:06:57 took out some pillars
00:09:04 Until then you could keep it secret
00:11:11 for the last time this year, so let's go up there and have a look, right?
00:13:16 I know that I was here twice.
00:15:45 It was fascinating to experience this new type of music
00:18:10 What surprised my parents I think was, that after weeks of slaving away on building sites
00:20:55 or rather we both had something to do with music
00:24:34 Whether it be the journey on the sleeper bus or a flight:
00:28:53 Don't know, it's...
00:31:50 One at the front, at the bar, and one booking in the back.
00:34:44 Then there was the Labland DVD, because after two years or so we thought:
00:38:09 And it was like that back then too and particularly the experimental bands loved recording with him.
00:40:46 but it was just trying things, experimenting.
00:43:19 Took about a year.
00:45:49 Listen, we just put them on now temporarily.
00:50:47 It's still great
00:54:40 that you used as a page marker a long time ago
00:57:51 But we want to continue on
01:00:29 That is important.
01:02:44 And the monkey in the middle was supposed to block his ears
01:05:52 and all the fast rivers that come and go.
01:09:25 and more sensitivity for balance and experiments.
