The Sun's Revenge

00:00:13 The Sun's Revenge. Popular play in 3 reels. Story by Richard Oswald, directed by William Wauer

00:00:24 Need, misery, and illness have set in for landlord Matter.

00:01:40 "Walk to the pharmacy, my child, and fetch medicine."

00:03:41 "You've heared it now, we lend you nothing more."

00:04:39 From all sides it's raining coins as thanks for music and dance.

00:07:00 "Listen, child, what lovely music, those are gypsy tunes."

00:08:37 Before the landlord's eyes, the fiddler carelessly throws the money on the table.

00:11:01 "Go child, the gypsy should play, then I would feel better again."

00:12:11 "Fiddler, for the sake of my poor, ill wife, play just a little bit on your violin."

00:14:02 A farewell song.

00:14:32 Careless and happy, the fiddler wanders forth.

00:15:29 "The sun, the sun will avenge me!"

00:15:39 "The sun, the sun will avenge him."

00:16:26 Twelve years have passed. The fiddler's wife has followed the trail of the missing man...

00:17:16 The landlord has come into money thanks to the money of the fiddler and has built himself a new house.

00:18:37 The landlord is overjoyed with the proposal.

00:21:06 The landlord sneaks after his daughter.

00:23:22 "Damned girl, leave that gypsy alone."

00:24:07 In powerless fear and anger the landlord locks up his daughter.

00:26:10 "Mother, I want to see, what's keeping Aranka."

00:29:12 The landlord, in his fancy, runs to his old, andoned guesthouse.

00:30:55 "On my soul! Is it you, landlord Matter, or is it a ghost?!"

00:32:56 The madman drops the match in his fear.

00:35:26 "So the sun takes revenge."
